Honouring the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.
On August 9, the world marked the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, a moment to celebrate the wisdom, resilience and culture of First Nations peoples while reflecting on how much further we need to go in building an equitable future.
Here in Australia, organisations such as Australians Together are helping bridge that gap by providing free resources for schools, workplaces and communities. Their goal is to increase awareness, deepen understanding and encourage real-world action toward reconciliation. Meanwhile, the Inclusion Program partners with businesses to create culturally safe environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, offering workshops, policy guidance and leadership training to move from good intentions to tangible change.
Sometimes the most powerful first step is taking time to learn. Whether it’s reading, listening, or engaging with these resources, education is the foundation for understanding. From there, conversations with friends, family and colleagues can ripple outward, turning learning into lasting change.
