Pushing for 75%: A Target Worth Backing

What do Matildas star Alex Chidiac and the UNLESS team have in common? We’re both playing for the same side, that is calling on the Australian government to commit to cutting emissions by at least 75% below 2005 levels by 2035.

Alex, alongside ex-Socceroo Craig Foster, Paralympian Ellie Cole and more, has thrown her support behind Sport 75. Their message is simple but powerful: whether you’re on the pitch, in the pool, or in Parliament, climate action is a team sport.

And in business we’re lining up with more than 500 companies through Business 75, including the likes of Atlassian, Canva, Unilever, Bank Australia and Future Group. Together, we’re making the case that aiming higher isn’t just good for the planet, but it’s good for prosperity too. Deloitte’s modelling shows a 75% target could unlock $370 billion in GDP, create 69,000 jobs every year, and turn Australia into a clean export powerhouse.

Small businesses like ours have an outsized role to play. Every signature on the open letter helps tip the scales toward the future we all want (and urgently need). If you’re a business leader (or know one you can nudge) you can add your name here. Because when it comes to bold climate ambition, sitting on the sidelines just isn’t an option.
